Introducing - SmartPhone access to your Studentnet services is go!

Today, Studentnet announces the availability of the first generation of our smartphone interface to your existing Studentnet services:

Included in this initial release are:
  • Virtual Servers - performance and availability monitoring for your dedicated server (Moodle, Sharepoint etc) - released today
  • Hosted sites and services - performance and availability monitoring for your shared server (web site, email etc)- released today
  • Nextmail - Link to current administration - released today, SmartPhone User Account reporting and administration - future release
  • Network Operations - NOC Operations Request submission - imminent release 
The initial release of is just a taste of what is to come for our smartphone platform. Our plans include a complete mobile reporting, administration, and control facility for your Studentnet cloud and network services.

We welcome your questions and suggestions for improvements (as always). To get the ball rolling here is a quick FAQ:

  • How do I access the service? Visit on your smartphone.
  • What smartphone platforms are supported? Apple iPhone & iPad iOS v3+, BlackBerry OS v6+,  Android, Windows Mobile v7.0, Symbian S60 v 5.0, webOS, bada and MeeGo!  Some platforms may require upgrade to the latest browser releases or beta releases.
  • Is there a demonstration facility? Yes. Login using the id: studentexample and the password: demo1234
  • Is that real information in the demonstration facility? Yes. It's the realtime data for Studentnet's demonstration Moodle server.
  • How do I see my servers and services? Just use your existing credentials that you use to access the existing Studentnet monitoring facilities. If you have not already been allocated credentials or wish to reset your credentials please send us an Operations Request and we'll reset them for you.
  • When will the Operations Request feature be implemented? Real soon - we' re hoping by mid-August.
  • Can I use for servers at my school or non-Studentnet servers? Yes, we just need to ensure that the correct communications are established to the target server. Please contact us for more details.
  • What's does it cost? base features are included in your existing Studentnet cloud service charge. Future optional features may incur a charge, and use on non-Studentnet services will incur a customised charge.
  • Will be released as a standalone app? That's on our development roadmap. Watch for future developments.
